We recognize that shopping can be stressful. “Is this good for me or my family?” “Isn’t this kind of food supposed to be unhealthy for me?” Believe it or not, there are many foods that are good for your dental health. Here are some snacks you don’t have to worry about:
-Almonds. Almonds contain teeth-reinforcing vitamins, so they’re a good snack to enhance your chompers on the go.
-Apples: To chew an apple, you form a lot of spit, and that saliva flushes out bacteria and acids from your oral cavity.
-Carrots. Carrots amp up saliva production (which fights bacteria), and they’re lower in sugar than other munchable snacks.
-Celery. With its tough, stringy structure, celery scrapes away bacteria and food remnants like toothbrushes do.
-Cheese. Cheese naturally lowers the acidity in your mouth, helping to defend against cavity-causing bacteria.
-Strawberries. Strawberries have malic acids, which can be a good whitener for your enamel. (But make sure to brush after eating them!)
-Leafy greens. Leafy greens are full of minerals and vitamins that support dental health, such as gum-improving folic acid.
-Water. By drinking water, you’ll wash away food remnants and bacteria from your oral cavity.
-Yogurt. Probiotics in yogurt push out damaging bacteria from your gums. (Choose for yogurts without added sugars.)
